September 11, 2013

It's that time of the year where everything goes back to normal. The kids are back in school, summer vacations are done, and the days of relaxing pool side are drifting behind us. It's back to work and back to the grindstone. But this shouldn't be a time to dwell, we should be looking anxiously forward to everything that fall and winter have to bring.

For many, the leaves have started to change colors. Here in San Diego, it's been blistering hot for going on three weeks and it feels nothing like fall, but I hear it is changing elsewhere... And while I'm not a coffee drinker (I know, don't hold it against me), Starbucks has signaled their official start of fall with the availability of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Soon, we'll all be decked out in warm clothes, scarves and boots rejoicing that it isn't hot and humid anymore. And then, right behind that come the holidays. All the fun and excitement wrapped up in one pretty package. But then, the year is over and we start anew.

January will be here before you know it! And while I try to paint a pretty picture above, we really do need to sit down and evaluate our social media goals.

Have you let your posting schedule relax over the summer? Maybe you missed a few blog postings or shared a few less Facebook posts. How has this affected your traffic and lead generation? Now is the time to review your strategy and get back on track. It's not too late to pull your numbers back up in time for the year end.

Have you achieved the goals you set for your social media plan this year? If not, how far away are they and what do you need to do to reach them? Maybe it's time to run that contest you've been planning. Or to invest in some PPC ads. Or to join a new platform that you've been procrastinating joining. Now is the time to get started - you can make a serious impact before the year end.

Take some time this week or next (sooner, not later!) to review your strategy and goals. Determine what course of action you need to take to finish the year stronger and better than how you started it!

  1. Hi Jenn, good post and I agree – it’s important to re evaluate goals at landmark times during the year.. I like to evaluate quarterly to see how I’m going for the overall target. That said, don’t know if I could do it without any coffee – how can you survive without coffee? 😉

    1. lol Ryan! I rely heavily on soda… I think it’s about an equal vice. 😉
Great to hear that you review quarterly! That’s a great plan to adhere to. Glad you enjoyed the post!

    1. It’s a new theme Martin. I decided to spruce things up a little around here!
And, yes, especially in the colder months, I love a good cup of tea! I’m sure you can relate 😉
