Instagram has long included “Suggested Posts” in the home feed, but we’ve all seen the frequency of these posts increase over the last year. Now, with the 3-feed layout on Instagram (Home, Favorites, and Following), the number of suggested posts has likely increased dramatically in your home feed.
Why?
Well, Instagram told us themselves that this was the plan. They want the home feed to be a source of entertainment and content that is heavily suited to YOUR individual interests. The content from those you follow is in this feed but is algorithmically sorted based on your behaviors of the content you are most likely to interact with and is where you find all the Instagram ads. But, Instagram wants to make sure you’re getting exposed to exciting new content as well, so they pepper the home feed with suggested posts based on content you interact with frequently.
This all sounds good, in theory. And I’m actually a huge proponent of the algorithmic feed (you can now go to the Following tab if you think you like chronological better). BUT, OMG the inundation of suggested posts in my feed is enough to make me want to quit Instagram! I follow who I follow for a reason, and I go to the Explore page when I want something else. The incessant interruption of my feed content with new suggested post content is overwhelming!
Lucky for us, we can tamper this!
Did you know you can actually pause Suggested Posts in the home feed? You can. Only for 30 days and then you have to do it again when your feed fills up with more clutter. But, oh the joys of being able to control my content!
So how do you do it?
It’s really quite simple:
1. When you see a Suggested Post in your feed (any one), tap on the “X” in the upper right corner of the post.

2. From the menu that pops up, select the second option “Snooze all suggested posts in feed for 30 days”.

And that’s all there is to it. Anything suggested in your feed below that is still there. But if you refresh the feed, no more suggested posts! So easy and so much better (if you ask me lol).
