It was a super exciting year for social media and Jenn's Trends. I had some great growth, but also had some really popular blog posts here. And so, as we wrap up 2014 today, here is my list of top social media posts for 2014.
Side note: If you missed Monday's blog post with the top Instagram posts of the year, you can read that here.
1. How to Format Your New Twitter Header Image
This post was hugely successful at the time that Twitter updated their layout but it has continued to help people format their Twitter headers even since then.
2. 25 Signs You Work in Social Media
This was a really fun, somewhat tongue-in-cheek, post that brought tons of comments and engagement. If you have worked in social media marketing to any extent, chances are you understand most of these.
3. How to Write a Kick-Ass LinkedIn Recommendation
Based on the request of one of my readers, I put together this post with clear, concise tips on how to write effective LinkedIn recommendations. Making good use of recommendations on LinkedIn is a powerful way to grow your network and brand, while promoting those you know and trust.
4. Before You Change Your Social Media Usernames Think About This
This post came out of personal experience when I updated my Instagram and Twitter usernames. Sure, it'll be easy, I thought. Oh, was I wrong! You probably haven't thought of all the places where you've linked to or listed your social media accounts/usernames. So, this post shows you what to think about before you change those usernames.
5. How My Facebook Post Reached Over 10,000 People Organically
While we all complain (me included) about Facebook reach, the reality is that, yes, you can still get organic reach. Yes, you have to work for it. Yes, you have to have a plan. But it can be done. When I posted this one Facebook post in January, I had NO idea it would create this much reach but I learned a lot from it - all of which is summarized in this blog post.
And there you have my top social media posts of 2014. Yes, there were lots of other posts and many of them were impactful and important. But as a quick wrap-up, I think these posts are a good review of the year.
I'm so looking forward to 2015 and all the great topics and content to cover in social media. I hope you'll stick around and join me for those too 🙂
